Tree of the Myrtaceae family, it is native to Australia. Widely cultivated, it can grow up to 92 m high. More than 800 species have been identified in year 2000. Its leaves, long and thin, are blue-green with creamy white flowers. It is the one called Eucalyptus globulus that is most used for essential oils. Thanks to its adaptation mechanism that allows it to grow quickly, it is able to grow in many environments including Haiti.
The essential oil of eucalyptus is obtained by distillation of its fresh or dried leaves.
